Berlin (VNA) – “Dien Hong-Gemeinsam unter einem Dach e.V” (Dien Hong – living together under one roof), an NGO in Germany , celebrated its 15th founding anniversary in the city of Rostock on October 27.
The association was established by Wolfgang Richter, who is in charge of foreigners in Rostock , and the Vietnamese community in the city after German extremists burned a housing compound owned by the Vietnamese in October 1992.
The establishment was aimed at safeguarding the Vietnamese community and promoting their friendly ties with the local people.
President Do Van Bao of the Association said that the association was the first of its kind in Germany and it has now become strong among the Vietnamese community in both organisational scale and areas of operation.
The society has its website at http:www.dienhong.de and publishes its own newspaper, the InforDienst Rostock-Vietnam quarterly, in both Vietnamese and German languages.
The association provides courses on Vietnamese and German languages and legal consultancy and service for job placement besides information on the Vietnamese culture, market, land and people.
In August 2002, the association was granted German President Johannes Rau’s integration award.
Also on October 27, the K&H music school was launched in Berlin by Kieu Hai, a Vietnamese who has graduated from the Osnabueck Conservatoire in Germany .
The school is expected to help promote Vietnamese traditional music among young Vietnamese generations in Germany and the German people as well.-Enditem
