Ha Noi (VNA) – Viet Nam in the past ten months welcomed 3.5 million foreign tourists, a year-on-year increase of 17.8 percent, reported the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Some 332,000 foreigners visited the country in October alone.
Viet Nam has become more attractive for big spenders as it saw sharp increases in the number of tourists coming from countries and territories known for high consumer spending levels such as Russia with a rise of 56 percent, Italy – up 45 percent, the Netherlands – 44 percent, Hong Kong – 43.7 percent, New Zealand and France – both 43 percent.
In October, the country drummed up visitors with a series of fairs, exhibitions and tourist promotion programmes held in big cities.
The Viet Nam Tourism Administration also looked into possible launch of tours linking Viet Nam , Laos , Thailand and Cambodia by land, paving way to develop tourism activities between Viet Nam and these countries.-Enditem
