Hoa Binh (VNA) - Two schools worth 550 million VND (34,300 USD) in total provided by Canon Viet Nam were inaugurated in Da Bac district, northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh, on December 1.
The Canon-Ngu Mai and Canon-Tam friendship schools are two out of 16 schools which will be built in remote areas across the country until 2010 to the tune of 400,000 USD funded by Canon Viet Nam.
The company took this occasion to present gifts and learning aids to 154 students of the newly-built schools.
Canon Viet Nam opened the Canon-Bet Tray friendship school, the first of the proposed series, in Cam Thuy district, central Thanh Hoa province, on October 16.
After entering the country five years ago, Canon Viet Nam now boasts one factory in Ha Noi’s Thang Long industrial zone (IZ) and two more in the Que Vo and Tien Son IZs in northern Bac Ninh province.
Its main products include laser printers, ink-jet printers, photocopiers and cameras.
Canon Viet Nam employs more than 13,000 local workers and became Viet Nam ’s leading exporter with revenues of 700 million USD in 2006. Pundits believe that figure will climb to 1 billion USD this year.-Enditem
