Workshop focusing on farmers opens

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development held a workshop in Ha Noi on December 18 to discuss issues relating to farmers in the country’s integration process. Participants talked about farmers’ earnings, policies to improve farmers’ life, and discussed measures to narrow the growing gap between the poor and the rich. The increasing number of rural people migrating to urban areas is also on the agenda of the workshop. Experts suggested policies to develop sustainable agriculture, improve rural people’s living conditions to limit emigrants and minimise disadvantages to those who move to the cities. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is developing a project relating to farmers, rural areas and agriculture sector which is expected to be finalised in June 2008, according to the Deputy Minister Do Xuan Hung.-Enditem
