19/12/2007 -- 6:36 PM

HCM City (VNA) – As many as 13 billion VND (812,500 USD) has been poured in building infrastructure facilities and developing farming in 10 disadvantaged communes in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong.

The investment was under the second phase (2006-2010) of the Government’s socio-economic development programme for poor communes in mountainous and remote areas, known as Programme 135.

Since 2006, the provincial Steering Board of Programme 135 and relevant localities have disbursed almost 12 billion VND (750,000 USD) to build close to 15km of road, two bridges, 22 classrooms, a water supply project and two irrigation canals in the targeted communes.

Besides, about 800 million VND (50,000 USD) was spent on training local State employees in ethnic minority policies and administrative management, and over 520 million VND (32,500 USD) on buying agricultural machines and rice seed and animal breedings.

Fifteen communes in Dak Nong benefited from the first phase of the programme (1999-2005).-Enditem
