Pensions to rise 20 percent from January 2008

Ha Noi (VNA) - Pensions, social insurance subsidies and monthly subsidies for the retired will increase by 20 percent from January 1, 2008, according to the Government’s most recent decision. The decree, issued on December 17, made clear the target population, covering retired public employees, workers, military soldiers, police and commune officials. The nation now has about 1.5 million pensioners and social insurance subsidies beneficiaries as well as some 130,000 retired commune officials who are receiving pensions and monthly subsidies.--Enditem
