Sectors encouraged to join hands in education cause

19/12/2007 -- 10:05 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) - Task groups will be established in the near future to help the government, ministries and localities promote the involvement of all economic sectors in education and training.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan unveiled the plan at the end of a three-day conference reviewing two years of implementing the government’s Resolution No. 05 on the issue, which concluded in Ha Noi on Dec. 19.

Nhan, who doubles as Minister of Education and Training, pointed to land and skilled human resources as the most important factors to facilitate the participation of all economic sectors in the field.

The Deputy PM also urged ministries and sectors to work out their own schemes for education and training.

Reports presented by the Ministry of Education and Training said that a large amount of investment mobilised from different sources poured into the sector in 2006-2007, citing Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City as two leading localities in the movement with a total sum of 622.14 billion VND (38.88 million USD).

Over the past decade, organisations, businesses and individuals both at home and abroad contributed more than 78.57 million USD to develop education and training.

People across the country also donated 1.5 million sq.m for the construction of schools during the reviewed period, said the reports.-Enditem
