24/12/2007 -- 5:32 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) – Ha Noi’s annual consumer price index (CPI) in 2007 surged 10.68 percent, the local Statistics Department has reported.
On average, the CPI increased 0.85 percent per month with December seeing the highest rise of 1.78 percent.

In the month, almost all commodities saw the increase in prices, with food prices up by 3.93 percent; foodstuff – 1.35 percent, and transportation services – 5.04 percent.

The strong fluctuation of food prices was attributed to consecutive flooding and storms, the department said.

The prices of foods, construction material and gas are forecasted to continue with rising trend.-Enditem
