First business produces friction dust from cashew nut

15/01/2008 -- 2:37 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Dong Nai Foods Import and Export Company (Donafoods) has recently produced friction dust from cashew nut shell liquid, becoming the first business in Viet Nam to make such a product.

A company executive said the new product, which is used in the paint, automobile and electronics industries, helps Donafoods diversify its ranges of products and reduce environmental pollution as the company no longer burns cashew nut shells, a by-product from cashew nut processing.

The Dong Nai-based company has recently exported the first batch of 16.5 tonnes of friction dust to China , the world’s second largest consumer of this product, earning 8,250 USD.

The company plans to increase its output of friction dust to 500 tonnes this year.

Donafoods exports nearly 10,000 tonnes of cashew nuts every year.-Enditem
