State President welcomes Lao security minister

Ha Noi (VNA) – State President Nguyen Minh Triet wants Viet Nam and Laos to promote cooperation and mutual assistance in preventing criminal activities and schemes of sabotage against revolutionary causes in the two countries. President Triet expressed his hope while receiving a visiting delegation of the Lao Ministry of Public Security, led by Minister Thongbanh Sengaphone, in Ha Noi on January 16. The leader highly appreciated the signing of a cooperation plan for 2008 between the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of Public Security, saying that it will facilitate the implementation of cooperation agreements between the two sides. He said that hostile forces always attempt to undermine the two countries’ solidarity, therefore public security forces of the two countries should work out concrete cooperation programmes to prevent reactionary schemes and crimes to maintain the two countries’ stability and cooperative ties for mutual development. Minister Sengaphone informed President Triet about the working session between the two Public Security Ministries and briefed him of their plan on cooperation for 2008. He spoke highly of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security’s great assistance to Laos in personnel training and equipment. He expressed his hope that Laos and Viet Nam will increase cooperation and exchange of experience and information to prevent smuggling, drug trafficking and other social evils.-Enditem
