17/01/2008 -- 8:59 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) – Viet Nam has raked in one third of its fine arts and handicraft revenue from exporting the products to Japan and the market is still very large for local business to explore.

The figure was reported at a seminar in Ha Noi on January 17 to promote the exports of these products to Japan .

According to Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Le Danh Vinh, fine arts and handicrafts products are one of the ten leading potential export items of the country. The products have been exported to 136 countries and territories with a growth rate of over 20 percent a year.

The country now has over 2,000 craft villages, engaging 13 million workers, 1.4 million households and about 1,000 enterprises in production, import and export of the products.

According to Ken Akrawa, a senior expert from the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Vietnamese enterprises should continue study Japanese custom, consumption habits, market demands and distribution system.

They should also pay attention on ensuring delivery time and product quality as well as import regulations, he said.-Enditem
