Seandinavian airline flies cargo into HCM City

19/01/2008 -- 9:01 PM

HCM City (VNA) - The Seandinavian Airlines Cargo System announced the launch of its services in the Viet Nam ’s air cargo market at a meeting with customers in Ho Chi Minh City on January 17.

Air cargo will be transported via Bangkok to benefit from the fast transfer and connection to SAS’s daily departures to Copenhagen and Stockholm, said the vice president of SAS Cargo’s Global Sales, Nils Pries-Knudsen.

He said the increase in the export of Vietnamese products such as garments, footwear and foodstuffs had helped create a market for air cargo service.

“We will offer our Scandinavian customers a better service for shipments in Viet Nam,” said Nils.

During the opening ceremony, SAS assigned the HCM City-based Vector Aviation Co Ltd as its general sales agent (GSA) in Viet Nam.

SAS Cargo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SAS group, currently has direct air cargo service between Scandinavia and Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

Le Nguyen Trung Nghia, sales manager, GSA for SAS Cargo in Viet Nam , said travel time for cargo from Viet Nam to Scandinavia would be shortened from two to three days to 24 hours.-Enditem
