US NGO provides dairy cows to Mekong

Can Tho (VNA) – The non-governmental organisation Heifer International Foundation last week presented 15 dairy cows to 12 poor families living in Long Hoa commune in Can Tho city’s Binh Thuy district.

Under the US-based NGO’s five-year project, a total of 150 dairy cows will be given to the commune residents.

The NGO has thus far provided 32 dairy cows to 22 poor families, as well as 2 million VND in cash to each family to build breeding facilities.

Dr Chau Ba Loc, country director of Heifer International in Viet Nam , said the foundation had funded 360 million VND (22,500 USD) to the project since November 2004.-Enditem
