Texan scallops successfully bred in Viet Nam

Ha Noi (VNA) - The Institute of Marine Research and Aquaculture No.1 said it had successfully bred Texan scallops, a highly viable bivalve mollusc, otherwise known as “flying” scallops.

The small creature, measuring 6.8-7.2cm in average height and 30-35gr in weight when mature, with 50 percent of its body made up of flesh, grows quickly and can eat many kinds of food. Initially the institute bred some 3 million such young scallops for farmers to raise along coastal areas in Viet Nam.-Enditem
