15/02/2008 -- 2:30 PM

HCM City (VNA) – Spanish entrepreneurs are set to attend an investment forum to be held in Ho Chi Minh City later this month, looking mainly for opportunities in infrastructure.

Isaac Martin-Barbero, the Spanish Economic and Commercial Counsellor in Ho Chi Minh City , said executives from some 35 companies were expected to attend the Spain-Viet Nam Investment and Business Cooperation Forum on February 28-29, including from 10 major infrastructure firms.

The latter include railway transport specialist CAF, GMV, which is known for intelligent transportation, and many franchisers.

There will also be officials from engineering, real estate, consultancy, logistics and freight forwarding, renewable energy, tourism, medical equipment, and furniture majors.

Viet Nam was attracting more and more brands and Spain has strong brands like Zara, one of the world’s biggest franchising companies, he said.

Many Spanish firms had participated in similar forums in Viet Nam or had previous experience in Southeast Asia , and were thus knowledgeable about the Vietnamese market, he said.

Spain , the world’s eighth-largest economy, is also Viet Nam ’s 10 th biggest importer, buying mainly shoes, coffee, clothes, seafood and furniture.-Enditem
