Gold price rises to new record on local market

25/02/2008 -- 4:18 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) – The gold price in the domestic market increased sharply on the morning of February 25, with one tael of pure gold being sold for 18.25 million VND, a rise of more than 200,000 VND, by the Bao Tin-Minh Chau shop in Ha Noi at 11 a.m.

According to an official of the Bao Tin-Minh Chau business, the sudden increase was resulted from a slight increase of the world price and the surging demand on the day.

Luu Quang Dien, Director of the Saigon Jewelry and Germ Stone Company (SJC) in Ha Noi, attributed the rise to the world price increase, the losses in the securities market and the depreciation of US dollar.-Enditem
