EC extends relief aid to storm victims

Ha Noi (VNA)- Over 500 tonnes of rice in relief aid from the European Commission have been being distributed to victims of the Lekima storm in the northern provinces of Thanh Hoa and Ninh Binh, the said Viet Nam Red Cross.

The supplies, part of the second phase of the 7.8 billion VND Lekima project funded by the EC Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO), have been channeled through the Spain and Viet Nam Red Cross associations.

In the first phase, the project supplied over 500 tonnes of rice and a quantity of commodities for hardest-hit families.

Chairman of the Thuong Hoa village, Nho Quan district, Ninh Binh province, said the supplies had come in time and helped ease victims’ sufferings worsened by recent prolonged cold spells.--Enditem
