Russia-Viet Nam association to mark its birth

Moscow (VNA) - A programme to mark the 50 th founding anniversary of the Russia-Viet Nam Friendship Association has been announced by the Presidium of the Association’s Central Committee. Under the programme, articles on the association’s operation and the Russia-Viet Nam cooperative relationship will be printed on Viet Nam and Russia’s newspapers and magazines and a photo exhibition on 50 years of the Russia-Viet Nam Friendship Association will be organised. In addition, a series of special programmes will be broadcasted for both Russian and Vietnamese radio listeners in addition to a broadcast programme for Russia’s TV Center. Furthermore, the association will organise a friendly get-together for Vietnamese delegates and a grand meeting to mark its 50 th founding anniversary in September, 2008. Founded in July 1958, the Russia-Viet Nam Friendship Association, formerly known as the Soviet-Viet Nam Friendship Association, was one of the biggest social organisaitons in the former Soviet Union with more than 3,000 chapters. At present, the association is home to 1,500 members from more than 22 cities throughout Russia. Speaking to a Viet Nam News Agency correspondent in Russia, President of the Russia-Viet Nam Association Vladimir Buyanov said that the activities marking the association’s anniversary will attract a large number of Russian people. The association hopes that the Russian young people will better understand the traditional and friendly cooperation between Russia and Viet Nam and contribute more to promote the bilateral multi-faceted cooperation.-Enditem
