PM pledges favourable conditions for Brazilian investors

Ha Noi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung pledged to create the most favourable conditions for Brazilian businesses to invest in Viet Nam . At a reception for visiting Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Nufiez Amorim in Ha Noi on February 28, PM Dung stressed that Viet Nam and Brazil have huge potential for bilateral cooperation, particularly in economy, trade and investment. The PM said he was very pleased with the outcomes of FM Amorim’s talks with the Vietnamese FM, the working session with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Brazil-Viet Nam business forum. PM Dung affirmed Viet Nam ’s unchanged policy to promote equal cooperation for mutual benefit with Brazil and said he hoped to enhance the two countries’ mutual understanding through the exchange of high-level delegations. He invited the Brazilian President to visit Viet Nam in the near future. The PM also spoke of positive development in the two countries’ economic, trade and investment cooperation, with two-way trade reaching 300 million USD in 2007. However, he said the cooperation has not reached its potential and the two countries should make every effort to raise the trade value to 1 billion USD a year in the next few years. PM Dung asked the two sides to establish a joint committee soon to promote bilateral cooperation. FM Amorim said his current visit aimed to prepare for the upcoming visit by the Brazilian President. He told PM Dung about the results of his working sessions with Vietnamese relevant agencies, especially the signing of an agreement on ethanol production and other agreements. The Brazilian FM said he will convey Viet Nam ’s request for recognition of the country’s market economy and hoped the two countries will accelerate cooperation, particularly in economy, trade, culture and health care.-Enditem
