Ha Noi (VNA)- Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has spelled out a long list of potential sectors in relations with Oman during his meeting with State General Reserve Fund Chief Executive Al-Kharosi in Ha Noi on February 29.
The potential sectors mentioned by the Deputy PM included oil and gas, infrastructure construction, industries, metropolis building, petrochemical production and shipbuilding.
Hung said he was satisfied at the talks between the visiting Omani financial executive and State Investment and Capital Business Corporation CEO Tran Van Ta.
“It is great that the duo reached a consensus on not only the early establishment of an Omani investment fund in Viet Nam but also a concrete orientation in investment in the near future,” said the Deputy PM.
He said the potential fund would help investors make profitable operations in Viet Nam as well as expand investment ties to new areas such as finance, monetary, banking, stock market, hospitals, training and labour exports.
“I expect that the fund will make a debut in April,” said the Deputy PM.
In reply, Al-Kharosi said his fund has considered and planned to deploy a number of projects in Viet Nam , focusing on petroleum and real estates development.
He added that Omani investors are also interested in shipbuilding to meet a great demand for heavy tonnage oil tankers as well as for sea liner workers and engineers.
“ Viet Nam ’s shipbuilding industry has made a huge progress and now ranks seventh in the world,” the Omani financier praised.
He also said he hoped that the two countries would sign an agreement on double taxation avoidance soon in an effort to boost bilateral trade and investment.--Enditem
