HCM City (VNA) – German Deputy Prime Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said his country would want to build a “Germany House”, a centre for diplomatic, trade, cultural and educational agencies of Germany in Viet Nam , in Ho Chi Minh City .
The German Deputy PM made the revelation while meeting with Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City ’s Party Committee Le Thanh Hai and mayor Le Hoang Quan in the city on March 1 to discuss on cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and German localities, as well as key projects between the two sides.
Steinmeier further said that Viet Nam was a firm cooperation base for Germany with a valuable human resource of many German-speaking Vietnamese, saying measures should be worked out to maintain and develop the potential. Besides the newly-signed project to build a Germany university in Viet Nam , the German government expected to build a German high school in Ho Chi Minh City .
Deputy PM Steinmeier expressed his wish that Ho Chi Minh City would create favourable conditions for German businesses and investors to take part in urban railways, metro and airport projects.
He stated that he would convey the message of a favourable and important business and investment environment in Viet Nam , particularly Ho Chi Minh City to German business community.
Party Secretary Hai and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan affirmed to facilitate German businesses that are interested in investment and development projects of the city.
In the afternoon of the same day, Deputy PM Steinmeier and his entourage left Ho Chi Minh City , concluding a three-day official visit to Viet Nam.-Enditem
