48 billion USD to develop highway system

Ha Noi (VNA) – Under a Prime Minister freshly-approved plan for highway network by 2020 and the following years, Viet Nam will have a highway network of 5,753 km with a total investment capital of almost 48 billion USD.

Under the plan, from now till 2020, the country will prioritise investment in heavy traffic highway routes and routes near socio-economic centres like Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City , Hai Phong, Da Nang , Nha Trang and Can Tho.

Other priorities will be construction of roads, which make an impetus for socio-economic development, and routes under the “Viet Nam-China two corridors and one economic belt” programme.

The finance for the plan will be mobilised from the State budget through loans and bond issuance, local budgets, and private investment.-Enditem
