Egyptian senior official in town to increase ties

Ha Noi (VNA) – Assistant to the Egyptian Foreign Minister Tamer Khali has been visiting Viet Nam from February 28 to March 2 to seek ways to further enhance bilateral ties.

The Egyptian official held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister Dao Viet Trung, met with Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, and had working sessions with officials from ministries of trade and industry, healthcare, and agriculture and rural development.

High on the agenda of these talks and meetings were measures to further boost the two countries’ cooperation in trade, agriculture and healthcare.

International and regional issues of mutual concern were also brought into discussions at which the officials stressed on the need to bolster the two countries’ collaboration at international and regional forums.

The Egyptian diplomat said he valued socio-economic achievements Viet Nam has made in the past 20 years of renovation and congratulated the country on its United Nations Security Council non-permanent membership in the 2008-09 term.

He expressed hope that with efforts of both sides and large untapped potential for cooperation, the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will enter a new development stage.-Enditem
