Ha Noi (VNA) – The upcoming visit to Germany by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will give a boost to the two countries’ future relationship, said the Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany .
Talking with the Vietnam News Agency on the visit, scheduled from March 6 to 8, Ambassador Tran Duc Mau said the German government has continuously supported Viet Nam ’s foreign policy of openness, diversification and multilateralisation, and its active international integration drive.
“Following the first ever visit to Viet Nam by a German President, Horst Kohler, in May 2007, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to Germany will help bring the two countries’ ties to a new level in the coming time,” affirmed the diplomat.
With Viet Nam joining the World Trade Organisation, trade between the two countries has since then been expanded, Ambassador Mau said, citing 4.3 billion USD in two-way trade value in 2007, a surge of 54 percent from 2006.
To join in boosting bilateral trade ties, a Viet Nam-invested centre named “VIETHAUS” to promote Viet Nam’s trade and investment opportunities, culture and tourism in Germany will be inaugurated during the PM’s visit, the diplomat said.
He highlighted the Vietnamese community in Germany for contributions to the two countries’ trade ties, particularly the association of Vietnamese businesspeople in Germany as it worked effectively to bridge the two countries’ business circles.
The ambassador said education and training cooperation is becoming a spotlight in the bilateral ties as Germany is considering a cooperation project to build a vocational training school in Viet Nam in addition to its agreement to establish the Viet Nam-Germany University in Viet Nam.-Enditem
