Monsoon winds hit the north

03/03/2008 -- 10:08 AM

Ha Noi (VNA) – Moonsoon hit the north on March 2, which is still reeling from the biting cold that gripped the region for a month and only recently ended.

According to the National Hydrometeorology Forecasting Centre, temperatures are set to fall slightly across the northern province as a result of the seasonal wind change.

Meanwhile, major reservoirs in the north started discharging water last week to serve the needs of the spring rice crop.

The flow from the Hoa Binh Reservoir is between 750 to 800 cm per second, while that of Thac Ba Reservoir is between 100 and 150 cm per second.

The Tuyen Quang Reservoir is discharging water at the rate of 500 to 1,000 cm per second.

The water level of the Red River in Ha Noi was 2.36 m on March 2.-Enditem
