Hotel operator Accor plans expansion in Viet Nam

06/03/2008 -- 9:49 AM

Ha Noi (VNA) – French hotel operator Accor on March 5 said it would expand its network in Viet Nam from eight hotels and resorts now to at least 20 by the end of 2010, with the launch of its luxury Pullman and mid-scale Mercure brands and expansion of its Novotel brand.

The new hotels will help Accor “tap into one of Asia ’s fastest growing tourism markets,” Accor’s Asia-Pacific Chairman Michael Issenberg was quoted as saying.

Three Pullman hotels are set to be developed in Viet Nam . The 150-room Pullman Sapa Resort and the 200-room Pullman Lao Cai Hotel will be built in the northern province of Lao Cai, and the 360-room Pullman Vung Tau Hotel will be developed in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau .

Paris-based Accor, which also opened a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City on the same day, said that it would develop two mid-scale Mercure hotels in Ha Noi. The 102-room Mercure Ha Noi La Gare is set to be opened in early 2009 and the 380-room Mercure Ha Noi Hado will be operational in early 2010.

The group said that new Novotel hotels will open in Ha Long Bay in June, in southern Nha Trang by the end of the year, and in central Hoi An city next year. Novotel Phu Quoc Resort will follow other Novotel openings scheduled in the next two years.

Viet Nam attracted 4.2 million international visitors in 2007, a year-on-year increase of 17 percent. The country targets 6 million foreign arrivals and 26 million domestic visitors in 2010, earning 4.5 billion USD.-Enditem
