PM Nguyen Tan Dung concludes UK visit

Ha Noi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s successful visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland concluded on March 6.

During the last day of the official visit, PM Dung met with Speaker of the House of Commons Michael Martin and Speaker of the House of Lords Helene Hayman.

PM Dung said he hoped the two Speakers would actively support bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and the UK, adding that the bilateral arrangement would be mutually beneficial and conducive to peace and stability in the region and the world at large.

The Vietnamese leader also thanked the UK for its important development aid, which he said has helped Viet Nam successfully fight poverty and fulfill the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UN MDGs).

The UK leaders affirmed their country will continue supporting Viet Nam in poverty reduction.

They said PM Dung’s official visit to the UK was highly successful and they were happy at the development of the two countries’ multi-faceted cooperation, especially in economy, trade, education and training.

They also praised Viet Nam’s socio-economic development achievements during the national renewal process which help the nation become a pioneer in implementing the UN MDGs.-Enditem
