Viet Nam represents at world tourism fair

Ha Noi (VNA) – More than 30 travel agents and hotels are showcasing Viet Nam at the 42nd International Travel and Tourism Fair (ITB) in Berlin , Germany .

Viet Nam Tourism Association’s Tourism Promotion and Consultation Centre Director Do Tung Lam said Viet Nam’s participation at the world’s biggest tourism fair aimed not only to attract visitors but also for organisations to market themselves to potential business partners.

The National Tourism Administration and the Tourism Association as well are focusing on promoting Can Tho city’s National Tourism Year 2008 and the Hue Festival. They are also calling on visitors to vote for Ha Long Bay Heritage as one of the world’s seven new wonders.

More than 185 million foreign holiday makers visited Asia in 2007 and the World Tourism Organisation says tourism is moving towards emerging economies in the region.

Germany ’s “World” newspaper said Viet Nam was among those countries attracting the largest number of tourists last year with a double digit growth of 16 percent. Vietnam ’s figures came in after India ’s 30 per cent growth but before China’s 10 percent.

This year’s fair has attracted the largest number of attendants with 11,147 travel and tourism agents from 186 countries worldwide.-Enditem
