NA chief: VN-Japan joint projects to start early

06/03/2008 -- 10:05 PM

Ha Noi (VNA)- National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong said he was satisfied with economic ties with Japan and expects early deployment of major projects that Japan has pledged to support.

The legislative leader on March 6 met with new Japanese Ambassador Mitsuo Sakaba who he said has been vowed into office at a time when relations between the two countries are fairing well.

Trong said official visits to Japan by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in 2006 and State President Nguyen Minh Triet in 2007 illustrate his statement.

He also listed a number of major projects signed between the two countries such as the North-South railway express, the North-South highway express and the Hoa Lac hi-tech industrial zone as further examples of strong bilateral relations.

“I hope construction of these projects will develop rapidly and effectively,” NA Chairman Trong said.

Ambassador Misuo Sakaba pledged to do his utmost to contribute to the friendly and cooperative relations, focusing on economic, commercial and investment ties.

“As the two countries are working on a number of joint programmes and projects at a large scale, they need strong support and close coordination of action from legislators from the two countries,” the diplomat said.-Enditem
