State President welcomes former German Chancellor

Ha Noi (VNA) – State President Nguyen Minh Triet received former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in Ha Noi on March 7. In the meeting, President Triet thanked Schroeder for his close ties with Viet Nam in his role as an advisor for Ringier AG, the largest media corporation in Switzerland , as well as during his time as German Chancellor. The State leader said he was pleased with the ever-developing friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Germany , especially in political and economic areas. He said the current visit to Germany by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung is clear evidence of a growing relationship, adding that the PM witnessed the signing of agreements, including construction of a metro route in Ho Chi Minh City that Shroeder helped plan during his time as Chancellor. The State leader spoke highly of Ringier AG Group’s cooperation with Viet Nam since it started in the country 17 years ago. Schroeder said he was honoured to make contributions to the development of Viet Nam. He added that Viet Nam has become an example for development in Asia that is drawing more attention from European investors.-Enditem
