Viet Nam, Croatia geared for increased cooperation

10/03/2008 -- 11:39 AM

Ha Noi (VNA) – Major dailies in Viet Nam on March 10 run front-page editorials centering on Croatia President Stjepan Mesic’s visit, saying that it will give a boost to bilateral cooperation and usher in a new chapter in relationship.

The Nhan Dan (People) daily noted that the visit was the first ever made by a Croatian Head of State since the Southeast European country became independent in 1991.

It put emphasis on the two countries’ exchange of visits as practical efforts to enhance cooperation and friendship since Viet Nam and Croatia established diplomatic ties on July 1, 1994.
In its editorial, the Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) daily commented that the visit was of more significance as both Viet Nam and Croatia are now non-permanent members in the United Nations Security Council.

The paper believed in the visit’s success, expecting talks and cooperation agreements to pave the way for the two countries’ future ties.-Enditem
