10/03/2008 -- 8:12 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) – Ha Noi authorities are working on a plan to build three waste water treatment facilities to fight future water pollution as the city grows.

The 2010-2015 plan includes a treatment plant, capable of processing 275,000cu.m of waste water a day, to be built at Ha Noi’s outlying Thanh Tri district.

The plant, called Yen Xa, will process waste water discharged from Ba Dinh, Dong Da, and Thanh Xuan precincts, part of Hoang Mai precinct, and Thanh Tri district.

The second waste water treatment plant, named Phu Do, will be built on Ha Noi’s suburban district of Tu Liem.

Able to refine 71,000 cu.m of waste water every day, the facility will be responsible for Cau Giay and Thanh Xuan precincts and parts of Thanh Tri and Tu Liem districts.

The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) is funding construction of the two waste water plants. The investment preparations will cost 225 million JPY which is being provided as official development assistance.

In addition to the two plants, municipal authorities are preparing a joint venture with Malaysia ’s Gamuda group to build another waste water treatment facility at the Hoang Mai district.

The 253 million USD Yen So plant will process 195,000cu.m of waste water a day, and is planned to be completed before October 2010.

Currently, Ha Noi’s waste water is refined by the North Thang Long-Van Tri station in Dong Anh outlying district, the Truc Bach station in Ba Dinh and the Kim Lien station in Dong Da precinct.-Enditem
