Government helps disadvantaged people

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Prime Minister on March 18 signed Decision No. 289/QD-TTg on aid to ethnic minority people, poor households and fishermen in face of petroleum price hike. The decision provides that during the 2008-2010 period, a fisherman will receive 70 million VND (4,375 USD) a year to build a ship of 90 CV or upwards in line with standards by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The decision also regulates financial supports for fishermen who have engines renewed for their vessels, buy insurance for their vessels and crewmen. For poor households of ethnic people in areas not having access to electricity, the decision regulates support to buy fuel and increase aid to buy medical insurance.-Enditem
