One more province declared bird flu free

19/03/2008 -- 8:08 PM

Hai Duong (VNA) - The veterinary head of northern Hai Duong province says the municipality has met the Health Ministry’s conditions to declare itself free of bird flu.

In order to be declared free of the H151 virus, a province must not have had any outbreaks over a 21-day period.

Provincial Veterinary Department Head Dong Van Chuc says that since the first case was reported in Ngu Hung village, Thanh Mien district, on February 19, the province has taken immediate steps to contain the epidemic.

“All the poultry flocks of the epidemic-hit farmer family and the eight surrounding families, totaling 10,010 head, were culled,” Dong said.

“And almost 800,000 birds raised in 44 villages of Gia Loc and Thanh Mien districts have been vaccinated.”-Enditem
