Over 40 percent of nation’s sick self-prescribe

Ha Noi (VNA) – More than 40 percent of people treat their illness at home with selft-prescribed medicine bought from a local pharmacy, according to a survey carried out by the Ministry of Health in 10 provinces. The survey also showed that people who visited commune health clinics accounted for 13.5 percent of those surveyed while 22.3 percent went to private clinics for treatment. Doctors said patients who self-prescribed medicine risked reacting badly to medicine and even risked death as a result of choosing the wrong medicines to treat their conditions.-Enditem
