· Vietnamese leaders, including State President Nguyen Minh Triet and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, give reception for and hold talks with Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Mirek Topolanek. Major documents and agreements for economic cooperation were inked ( All dailies, page 1).

Socio-economic Affairs

· Central Highlands Kon Tum provincial authorities grants a licence to Taiwan ’s InnovGreen Kon Tum company to build a tree plantation in the locality to serve the paper industry. The project is worth 67 million USD (Saigon Giai phong, page 2).

· The “2008 Humanitarian Actions” Programme by the US-based Catalyst Foundation raises more than 2.3 billion VND for the poor and disadvantaged children (Saigon Giai phong, page 2).

· Inflation can be contained (Dau tu [Investment], No. 35, page 1). As inflation shows signs of slowing down, the State Bank of Viet Nam would probably loosen monetary policies.
