Kidney transplants re-start in HCM City

HCM City (VNA) – Kidney transplants resumed after three years in HCM City after being halted to focus on liver transplantation. An operation was performed last Tuesday at Children Hospital 2 with assistance from specialists from Cho Ray Hospital and an overseas Vietnamese surgeon from Belgium .

The patient, a 15-year-old girl, received a kidney from her 51-year-old mother. The health condition of both mother and daughters is improving, according to Dr Tran Dong A, the chief surgeon.

The hospital has done five liver transplants in the last two year. -Enditem
