Hanoi (VNA) – The number of international visitors to Vietnam rose by 15.7 percent with 1.3 million tourists in the first quarter of the year, the General Statistics Office said.
The Office reported that 490,000 Chinese, American and Korean visitors accounted for nearly one-third of the quarterly arrivals.
Meanwhile, holidaymakers from Sweden , Finland , Australia and Hong Kong were reported to spend more money in services than other visitors.
Vietnam ’s biggest economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City catered for 840,000 foreign visitors, making up two-thirds of the international arrivals. The figure represents a 20 percent rise over the same period last year.
In March, the Vietnam Tourism Administration and six major travel companies jointly organised activities to promote Vietnam tourism in European countries: France , Hungary , Germany and Russia .
The Vietnam Tourism Administration has set a target of 5.5-6 million foreign arrivals with 4.5-5 billion USD in revenue by 2010.-Enditem
