28/03/2008 -- 5:20 PM

Hai Duong (VNA) – By the end of March, the northern province of Hai Duong had attracted 171 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects worth more than 2 billion USD, according to the Chief of Hai Duong Planning and Investment Department’s External Economics Section.

About 824.4 million USD, or 41.3 percent, of the total registered capital of FDI projects had been disbursed with 97 projects put into operation, head of the section Nguyen Xuan Doan said.

In the first quarter of this year alone, Hai Duong province absorbed 106.4 million USD in FDI.

The province licensed eight new FDI projects capitalised at 103.9 million USD and permitted two projects to add a combined amount of 2.5 million USD in the first three months.

FDI enterprises’ three-month turnover is estimated at 180 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 60 percent.

Enterprises recording big turnovers include Ford Vietnam Company, Phuc Son Cement Company and ANT Animal Feed Company.

The rise in FDI capital was attributed to simplified administrative procedures and a favourable infrastructure, business and production environment, the Hai Duong Planning and Investment Department Head Do Quoc Tien said.-Enditem
