28/03/2008 -- 10:22 PM

Hanoi (VNA) –The top leader of the judiciary sector on March 28 said the judicial personnel are in need of reform of salary policies and improvement of working conditions.

P resident of the Supreme People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh made the statement during an answer-question session of the National Assembly Standing Committee, stressing these measures will help resolve the shortage of competent personnel in his sector.

Binh said courts at all levels are encountering shortage of judges and judges’ limited competence along with difficulties in personnel recruitment due to low income, work pressure and high occupational risks.

He also proposed that the state empower the Supreme People’s Court to make its own decisions concerning the recruitment, training and job placing for its personnel and called for further reform of salary policies and working conditions for judges and court employees.

During the session, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat answered a NA deputy’s question about reasons behind a price hike in products serving agricultural production and solutions to deal with the problem.

The minister attributed the hike to increased world prices. He also said his ministry proposes that the Government encourage private investments in producing fertiliser, pesticides and animal feeds to reduce imports.-Enditem
