Minister: misused land to be revoked

01/04/2008 -- 11:30 AM

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam began a general land inventory in all localities nationwide on April 1.

Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Pham Khoi Nguyen said the inventory aims to check public land areas that the state has allocated for agencies, assess the effectiveness of the land use and propose the withdrawal of misused land areas.

Khoi said the inventory will be strictly implemented and that for the most serious violations, all land areas will be revoked to use for other purposes.

“The land fund is limited so it is unacceptable that some organisations misuse their allocated land, bringing benefits to a small group of people,” he said.

Land areas that are managed by State agencies, residential communities and religious organisations will not be inventoried this time.

Meanwhile, specific checking regulations will be applied for land areas controlled by forest management boards, agro-forestry companies, security and defence agencies.-Enditem
