01/04/2008 -- 10:17 PM

Hanoi (VNA) – Most provinces affected by bird flu have done well in stamping out the disease, with three out of four hit localities reporting no new outbreaks for the past two weeks.

At a meeting of the national steering committee on bird flu prevention on April 1, Deputy Minister of the Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Ba Bong hailed central Quang Binh and southern Soc Trang and Cam Mau provinces for their success.

Only central Quang Nam province reported three new outbreaks in the week from March 25-April 1.

The World Organisation for Animal Health has recently given Vietnam 20 million doses of avian influenza vaccine, in addition to 60 million doses Vietnam has ordered.-Enditem
