Hanoi (VNA) - Construction kicked off on the first two roadside stations in Ninh Binh province on April 2 and in Hoa Binh province on March 28.
The project is being realised through the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA), under the JICA funded study on national roadside station master plan in Vietnam , which started in February 2007.
The two roadside stations, the first of their kind in Vietnam , are scheduled to be put into operation in August 2008. They will serve as a model for future projects, providing a rest facility and a general information point, and promoting local specialities.
The roadside station in Ninh Binh will cover an area of 6,000sq.m at 267km from Hanoi on NationalHighway No.1A, running through Nam Thanh Ward, Ninh Binh City .
In Hoa Binh province, the roadside station will cover an area of approximately 5,000sq.m at 102km from Hanoi on National Highway No.6, Muong Khen Town , Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province.
These roadside stations are intended to serve as a are intended to serve as a model that provincial authorities, enterprises and individuals interested in investing in roadside stations nationwide can copy. More importantly, the project will assist the Vietnam Road Administration to finalise the legal framework for roadside stations, including roadside stations as road infrastructure under Road Law; lay the groundwork for classification of roadside stations and propose administrative mechanisms for roadside stations.
The Vietnam Road Administration expects that by 2015, there will be about by 80 standardised roadside stations across the country.-Enditem
