Forecast calls for cooler April

07/04/2008 -- 10:44 AM

Hanoi (VNA) – The average national temperature in April will be lower than in previous years; however, rainfall will increase, except in the northeast, according to meteorologists.

The weather will be primarily humid with scattered showers.

There will be a weak cold wave this weekend leading to drier, cooler weather in the north and northern central region. After that, rice farmers can look forward to more humid weather once again.

Due to the rain, from now to the end of the month the water level of the Hong (Red) River will rise, despite this being the driest period of the year. The water level in the lower section of the river will continue to fluctuate according to reservoir adjustments by hydroplants like Thac Ba, Tuyen Quang and Hoa Binh.

The northern provinces of Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh and coastal city of Hai Phong will be spared the brunt of the rain in the north.-Enditem
