PM orders greater efforts to curb severe acute diarrhea

12/04/2008 -- 7:14 PM

0412002_dung.jpgHanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on April 12 urged relevant ministries, agencies and localities to mobilise all available resources to push back the spread of acute diarrhea.

At a meeting with leaders from the Ministry of Health and affected localities, PM Dung emphasised the need to take drastic measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic, strictly implement regulations regarding production and trading of safe foods, and conduct regular public awareness campaigns.

The government leader also noted that the third outbreak that erupted on March 5 has to date hit 18 provinces and cities across the country.

Ministries, sectors and localities should keep vigilant on the epidemic and carry out all measures at the same time to ensure food hygiene and environmental sanitation, he said.

The health sector, PM Dung stressed, must hold the major responsibility for quarantining and stamping out outbreaks as well as treating infected patients.-Enditem
