· Provinces and cities celebrated the Hung Kings’ death anniversary (All dailies, page 1). National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong burnt incenses in commemoration of Hung Kings.

· Vietnam backs efforts to find out comprehensive, long-term solutions to the situation in Abkhazia , Georgia (Nhan dan, page 8).

· European friends called for support for Vietnamese Agent Orange victims (Quan doi Nhan dan, page 8).

· Government is to submit two resolutions to the National Assembly (Lao dong and Saigon Giai phong, page 1). The Prime Minister entrusted the Minister of Home Affairs, in conjunction with the Ministry of Construction and relevant agencies, to prepare presentations and a draft resolution on the merger of some localities with Hanoi and another on a pilot plan permitting foreigners to buy and own houses for certain periods in Vietnam .

Socio-economic Affairs

· Electricity brought to 1,000 villages and hamlets in the Central Highlands (Nhan dan, page 1).

Vietnam ’s second largest carrier Pacific Airlines and Australia ’s Qantas Jetstar Group held a press briefing in Ho Chi Minh City on April 14 to announce the establishment of Jetstar Pacific Airlines under the trade name of Jetstar.

International Affairs
