Vietnamese doctor awarded for heath services

Hanoi (VNA) – Doctor Do Gia Canh from the Vietnam National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has been awarded “Man of the Year” for his contribution to health care and nominated as one of the “Great Minds of the 21 st Century”.

The award was made by the American Biographical Institute in recognition of Canh’s contribution to promoting health care in Vietnam and internationally.

Dr Canh has been involved in many successful health care programmes including diarrhoea prevention, vaccine research and vaccination programmes for disadvantaged people.

He has also been involved in clinical research and practice, appraising quality of medicine and vaccines before putting them into use in Vietnam .

This includes researching and producing many kinds of vaccine in Vietnam such as the typhoid vaccine for children of between 2-5 years old and oral vaccine for diarrhoea.

Dr Canh has also worked with many international organisations including US National Institute of Health, the US Food and Drug Administrations, the International Vaccine Institute and the World Health Organisation.

A prestigious scientist, Canh is currently a member of the US Public Health Association and the World Federation of Public Health Associations.-Enditem
