State President meets former youth volunteers

23/04/2008 -- 9:36 PM

Hanoi (VNA)- State President Nguyen Minh Triet expressed deep gratitude to former youth volunteers for their devotions and sacrifice to the country during his meeting with 130 delegates at the Presidential Palace on April 23.

“The Party and State will continue with policies in favour of those who had devoted energy and lives to the revolution in gratitude of their sacrifice,” pledged the Head of the State.

President Triet also urged them to uphold the patriotic tradition of youth volunteers to contribute more to the national development for “a stronger, more prosperous and beautiful country” as President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching.

He briefed them of the country’s development over the past 30 years, especially during the 20 years of renewal, stressing their contributions and sacrifices have been upheld by young generations.

The delegates at the gathering represented the youth volunteer brigades from Ho Chi Minh City and several other southern provinces and cities in a trip called “Returning to the former battlefields.”

The trip will bring participants back to historic sites related to the struggle for national salvation such as the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail, martyrs cemeteries and the Viet Bac former revolutionary base.--Enditem
