· Scholarships each worth 40,000 USD to be granted to Vietnamese students (Ha Noi Moi, page 6). SCG, one of the leading industrial groups in Southeast Asia , has announced three scholarships each worth 40,000 USD to Vietnamese students.

· Construction planning for Ho Chi Minh City until 2020 (Saigon Giai phong, page 1). The urbanisation rate reaches 80 percent.

· Completely avoiding wastefulness in infrastructure construction investment and budget spending (Thoi bao Tai chinh Viet Nam [Vietnam Financial Times], No. 49, page 3). Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed a decision on the management of planned investments for infrastructure construction and budget spending for 2008 to curb inflation.

· Nine financial solutions to fulfill the 2008 state budget tasks (Thoi bao Tai chinh Viet Nam , No. 49, page 3).

· 312 million USD for traffic development in the Mekong Delta (Thoi bao Kinh te Viet Nam , No. 99, page 1). The Ministry of Transport announced a project to improve road and inland waterway traffic systems in the Mekong Delta with a total funding of 312 million USD sourced from the World Bank’s loans and Australia ’s non-refundable aid.

· Zamil Steel inaugurated its second plant in Vietnam (Thoi bao Kinh te Viet Nam , No. 99, page 4). Zamil Steel Vietnam put into operation its second factory at the Amata Industrial Zone in Dong Nai province. An interview with Zamil Steel Vietnam General Director George E. Kobrossy.

· Tourism in the central region: Getting connected to create a tourism paradise (Tuoi tre [Youth], No. 109, page 14). Experts said it is necessary for the central region to build international-level coastal resorts if it wants to become a tourism paradise.
