Rok seeks military cooperation agreement with Japan

Seoul (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK) is considering signing an agreement on military cooperation with Japan, Yonhap news agency reported on April 28. The formal agreement is likely to be signed during a visit to the RoK by Japan’s Defence Minister Shigeru Ishiba. “We don’t have an exact date for the visit yet, but he is scheduled to visit this year and the document will likely be signed during his visit,” spokesman for the RoK Defence Ministry Kim Hyong-ky was quoted by Yonhap as saying. The agreement outlines “general rules” on cooperation and military personnel exchanges and calls for regular joint navy search and rescue exercises.-Enditem
